A big challenge with improving your skills is that there is a lot to work on, and you can only really focus on one thing at a time.
A result, you need to be really careful and really selective with what you choose to work on.
In the next few posts, I'm going to give you simple cues that make a big difference.
#3. Skate!
Many triathletes get really focus on what they're doing with different parts of the stroke.
They're focused on their arms, they're focused on their legs, they're focused on their breathing.
Many times, this is a great place to put your focus.
However, there are times when you need to focus on the RHYTHM of swimming.
That rhythm is a side-to-side action, much like the side-to-side action of ice skating.
Shift to one side, shift to the other, back and forth.
That's the central rhythm you want to feel and create.
It's not about how MUCH you shift side-to-side, just the subtle shift.
Next time you're swimming, focusing on SKATING and getting in touch with the rhythm of the stroke.
Here's a great exercise to help you learn to do just that.
